3form products and solutions help you earn LEED* credits in five categories. We are proud to be a member of the USGBC and our materials are ideal for LEED certified commercial buildings. For your convenience we have provided detailed information on how 3form products and processes can help you achieve LEED certification in your next green project.
Are 3form materials LEED certified?
Materials cannot be LEED certified, they can only help projects earn LEED points. Please see above for details on how 3form materials can help your project earn LEED points.
What processes are considered on-site fabrication (to qualify
This site as the site of final fabrication for regional manufacturing
credit?)
LEED defines manufacturing as the final site of assembly of components into the building product that is furnished and installed. the intent is to reduce the mileage traveled of construction and furniture materials in order to minimize the negative environmental impacts of such transportation. This credit can be applied to 3form materials when they are fabricated or integrated with other materials into a multi-component system, such as when used in cabinets and furniture. The site of such fabrication can be considered the manufacturing location and can help earn LEED credits within 500 miles of the project site. Cutting, drilling holes, and applying hardware are not considered manufacturing for LEED credits. When panels are installed without being fabricated into a multi-component system the manufacturing site is the original site of manufacturing. Manufacturing sites for our products can be found under the regional materials section of our LEED document.
Does drilling holes and installing hardware count as final
assembly?
No. Drilling holes and installing hardware do NOT fall under the LEED definition of manufacturing or final assembly. Please see above for a more detailed explanation.
Do 3form Reclaim™ panels qualify for additional LEED
credits?
3form reclaim accepts previously installed 3form panels as well as panels that were damaged or flawed in the manufacturing process. Previously installed panels could be counted towards LEED credits as salvaged material, but we do not yet have a process for labeling them separately. The next version of LEED will likely have a credit associated with purchasing materials from companies like 3form, who take back their materials at end of life.
How do you calculate the value of recycled content in 3form
materials?
The recycled content cost is calculated by multiplying the value of the product by the percentage of post-consumer recyuceld content or by ½ the percentage of post-industrial recycled content.
Are 3form recycled content claims certified?
3form Varia Ecoresin (with the exception of river rock) is certified by Scientific Certifications System (SCS), a third party certifier, to contain a minimum 40% post-industrial recycled content. 100 PERCENT is certified by SCS to contain 100% post-consumer recycled content.
