There is a general trade off between panel gauge, stiffness, and the required number of standoffs. The table below summarizes the number of point supports required for a given panel gauge and panel size. More detailed charts taking into account barrel length and wall type are available.

Note: These standoff patterns are only for vertical surfaces. For horizontal surfaces supports are required in the center of panels or there will be deflection in the panel.
