Quoting Process

What does the quoting process look like?

Three stages of 3form quotes follow the A&D process: Design Quote (DQ-123456), Budget Quote (BQ-123456), and Working Quote (WQ-123456).

1. Design Quotes (DQ)

   Design quotes serve as preliminary budgets for designers and architects early in the design development process. At this stage, many details are still to be determined, so these quotes are not intended for order placement.

2. Budget Quotes (BQ)

   Budget quotes are primarily provided to general contractors and subcontractors during the bidding stage. These quotes are not intended for order placement, as scope and shipping details may still change. For more information, refer to the FAQs below.

3. Working Quotes (WQ)

   Once project details are finalized, working quotes (WQs) are sent to the purchasing party. From this point, the Project Coordinator or Project Manager will process and manage the order and serve as your primary point of contact.

   • The signed WQ acts as the purchasing agreement for the order. While we can reference a Purchase Order for convenience, the details outlined in the WQ—including quoted details, material specifications, and scope of work drawings—take precedence over any Purchase Order or other written or verbal communications.

   • At this stage, accuracy is critical for all details in the WQ, including material specifications, fabrication, hardware, shipping address, and point of contact. If any information on the 3form quote is incorrect, please contact the Estimator, Project Manager, or Project Coordinator listed on the quote to request revisions. All changes must be made to the WQ prior to order placement.

What can I expect once I place my order?

1. Order Placement

   • Production for most sheet goods begins immediately after order placement.

2. Digital Proof Approvals (if applicable)

   • For orders requiring digital files, digital proofs will be sent for your approval within a few days of order placement.

   • Your Project Coordinator or Project Manager will facilitate this process.

3. Fabrication Approvals (if applicable)

   • For orders including fabricated materials, approval is required before fabrication can begin.

   • Your Project Coordinator or Project Manager will send the necessary details for your approval within a few days of order placement.

4. Approval Confirmation

   • Once all approvals are received, your Project Coordinator or Project Manager will confirm the estimated ship date.

5. Important Note

   • Delayed approvals or multiple revisions will result in delays to your estimated ship date.

What Payment Terms are Available?

• Orders with Lead Times of 2 Weeks or Less

  • Payment in full is due at the time of order placement.

• Orders with Longer Lead Times

  • Cash Before Delivery (CBD):

    • No deposit is required upon receipt of a signed Purchase Agreement.

    • The full balance is due before shipment.

  • Non-CBD Orders:

    • A 50% deposit is due upon receipt of a signed Purchase Agreement.

    • The remaining balance is due before shipment.

• Standard Payment Terms

  • A 50% deposit is due at order placement.

  • The remaining balance is due prior to the scheduled ship date.

• Payment Terms for Returning Customers

  • Unique payment terms are available for returning customers.

  • Eligibility Requirements:

    • Completion of at least two prior orders with on-time payments.

  • Terms may take up to 2 weeks to establish.

What if I have a tax exemption?

• State Tax Exemption

• To remove tax from a quote or order, provide a state tax exemption or single-use project tax-exempt form.

• Tax can be removed at the time of order placement, so quote updates may not be necessary.
